XXXX was brought by his mom from Durango, Mexico to Phoenix, Arizona, United States at age 10. Irsquo;ve been here for 20 years. There are four of us in my family. I was ten years old when I came. She wanted to give her kids the best opportunities for themselves. She wanted the best for us.br/ br/ I began to work at 12 or 13 years old to help my mom. I was in school and working. I worked in construction before but now I am a painter. I like it and I learned fast. I am a good painter. Thatrsquo;s why I continue to do it. I like it a lot. I like to do it so that the clients like it when I finish. I try to do the best I can. I like when they are happy with the work I do. I see their joy. I donrsquo;t do it for the money, I do it so that the people happy with their house.br/ br/ I got my associates diploma in community college. I studied athletic training. I couldnrsquo;t continue because it was really expensive. And it was when the laws became more strict. I graduated in May but I would have had to pay triple to go to the University.br/ br/ When Trump won, many Hispanics were worried. It lead me to go to a gathering at the church and I saw many Americans (in support of us). I felt assured, I said, ldquo;I would have never imagined that so many people would care about us.rdquo; They didnrsquo;t agree with Trump. I wouldnrsquo;t have imagined.br/ People talk about how we donrsquo;t speak the language from here, but the reason because we might not speak the language is that there are people with less resources that have not had an education. I would like to learn another language, but I am working.br/ We as immigrants are people that are thankful for this country. It is an opportunity to have a better future. We came for nothing more but to work. Not to take, only to work.br/ br/ We want to respect this country. Me tocoacute; ir a una junta a la iglesia, vi muchos Americanos (en apoyo de nosotros). Me sentiacute; tranquilo, dije -Nunca me imaginado mucha gente se preocuparon por nosotros-. Ellos no estaban de acuerdo con Trump. No me imagineacute;.br/ Se habla de que no hablamos el idioma aquiacute; pero es las personas de bajos recursos que no han tenido estudios es la razoacute;n por la cual no hablamos el idioma. Me gustaria aprender otro idioma, pero estoy trabajando.br/ Nosotros como inmigrantes somos personas agradecidos por este paiacute;s. Es una oportunidad para tener un mejor futuro. Nada maacute;s venimos para trabajar. No para quitar, sino que para trabajar.br/ Queremos respetar este paiacute;s.
