XXXX came from Mexico City to Flagstaff more than 20 years ago. She has 2 kids and works as a preschool Spanish teacher.br/ br/strongldquo;My work (as a Spanish teacher in a preschool) is important work. I like that I can give to others what I have learned because it is something that I am. It is part of my identity that I can share with the children and I like to receive their love in return.rdquo;/strongbr/I work in a pre-school and have for more or less the last twelve years. Another teacher teaches English and I help out in Spanish. It's one of the bilingual schools that teaches Spanish and English.br/They are basic things in Spanish the students learn, because they will learn more in kindergarten. It is very beautiful because the children are very open to all people (regardless of language or culture). They always ask, lsquo;Como se dice?rsquo;. It is a very nice age because we speak different languages but we are the same.br/It is important work. And I like that I can give to others what I have learned because it is something that I am. It is part of my identity that I can share with the children and I like to receive their love in return.br/We migrated here because of the issue of work. There was not a lot of work where we came from, once in while there was work, but the economy there is bad as well. The reason we came here was for work and to make things a little better for us and our family, and then we stayed longer because of the insecurity (in Mexico).br/I try to take advantage of all the opportunities to learn the language here and learn the different ways of teaching. I try to do it and I like it. It would be a dream to go to university and learn the language better, I would like to continue studying.br/The difficult thing is the lack of opportunity. It is a challenge for our children because they cannot to Mexico alone and our families die and we cannot go, or if we go (the kids) have to stay here alone. If our families get sick we cannot be with them (in Mexico), because we can go out (of the US) but we cannot come back. All of this situation is inhumane because we come here in any situation we are (in) and we try to do better for our families. There are many challenges because it is always that they ask us for legal status and do not treat us as people. Recently my dad died, and I could not go (to Mexico) and it is very sad to know that we cannot be with our family and have these freedoms. They are very unfair laws.br/My wish for my children is that they value what they have, and that they are good citizens and people. They should be proud of where they come from and who we are. I want them to always do what they are good at to help others. I hope that they donrsquo;t just think of themselves because they can do much more with others. I believe that all our experiences that we have gone through is why I always tell them, lsquo;Always try to help othersrsquo;. It is an opportunity for them because they were born here. I say that it is good that they are citizens, they can study, and they can do a lot for others.br/ br/********************************************br/ br/XXXX vino la ciudad de Meacute;xico a Flagstaff en 2000. Ella trabaja en un preescolar como maestra de espantilde;ol.br/ br/strongldquo;Mi trabajo (de ser profesora de espantilde;ol en un preescolar) es trabajo importante. Otra maestra ensentilde;a ingleacute;s y yo apoyo en el espantilde;ol. Es una de las escuelas bilinguuml;es que dan clases de espantilde;ol y ingleacute;s.br/Son cosas baacute;sicas en espantilde;ol (que los estudiantes) aprenden porque aprenden maacute;s en el kinder. Es muy hermoso porque los nintilde;os son muy abiertos a toda la gente (independientemente de la lengua o cultura). Ellos siempre preguntan lsquo;iquest;Coacute;mo se dice?rsquo;. Es un edad bien bonito porque hablamos diferentes idiomas pero somos iguales.br/Mi trabajo (de ser profesora de espantilde;ol en un preescolar) es trabajo importante. Me gusta que puedo dar lo que he aprendido porque es algo de lo que yo soy. Entonces es algo que me identifica y trato de darle a los nintilde;os y me gusta recibir el amor de los nintilde;os a cambio.br/Migramos por la cuestioacute;n de trabajo. No habiacute;a mucho trabajo de donde venimos, pues hay veces donde hay trabajo pero la economiacute;a alliacute; es mal tambieacute;n. Venimos por esta razoacute;n de trabajar aquiacute; y hacer un poco mejor por nosotros y la familia, entonces quedamos maacute;s tiempo por la inseguridad.br/Yo trato de aprovechar todas estas oportunidades de aprender el idioma y la forma diferente de la ensentilde;anza. Yo trato de hacer y me gusta. Seriacute;a un suentilde;o ir a la universidad y aprender mejor el idioma, me gustariacute;a seguir estudiando.br/Lo difiacute;cil es la falta de oportunidad. Es un desafiacute;o para nuestros hijos porque no van a Meacute;xico solos y mueren nuestras familias y no podemos ir. O si vamos, ellos tienen que quedar aquiacute; solos. Si nuestras familias (en Meacute;xico) enferman no podemos estar con ellos porque salimos (de los EE. UU.) pero no podemos regresar. Todo esta situacioacute;n es unas inhumanas porque venimos aquiacute; en cualquier lugar que estemos, tratamos estar hacerlo mejor por nuestras familias. Hay muchos desafiacute;os porque pues siempre es que nos pidan el estatus legal y no nos tratan como personas. Recientemente mi papaacute; murioacute;, y no pude ir (a Meacute;xico) y es muy triste saber que no podemos estar con nuestra gente y tener la libertad. Son leyes muy injustos.br/Mi deseo para mis hijos es que ellos valoren lo que tienen, que tienen una familia donde vivimos y sean buenas ciudadanos y personas. Deben estar orgullosos de donde vienen, de lo que somos y siempre tratar de hacer de lo que ellos sean bueno porque esto va a ayudar a los demaacute;s. Deseo que no solamente piensan en ellos pero que ellos pueden hacer mucho mejor con alguien. Yo creo que toda nuestra experiencia que hemos pasado es porque siempre les digo lsquo;Siempre tratan de ayudar a los demaacute;s.rsquo; Porque es un oportunidad para ellos solicita porque nacieron aquiacute;. Digo lsquo;Que bueno que son ciudadanos, que pueden estudiar, y que pueden hacer mucho por los demaacute;s.rsquo;
